Taking Time!

Taking Time!

This week I had planned to do another article in The Compass series but last week was a doozy leading into this Scorpio New Moon πŸŒ‘.
So I decided to take it easy this week and just go with the flow. I’m sharing something I wrote as I’m working through a 30 Days back to Peace journaling. It is a very great need and is what has helped and still helping release old patterns of thought, ideas and self-image into something new.
This journaling has been very eye opening and a reminder that we constantly heal. It’s messy, chaotic and shedding the old can feel like ripping a band aid off. It’s so worth it though!
I also wanted to share a little piece of advice that started this whole 30 Days to Peace:
You cannot keep birds from flying over your head but you can keep them from building a nest in your hair.”
The phrase “you can’t stop birds from flying over your head, but you can stop them from building a nest in your hair” is a metaphor, meaning you can’t control unwanted thoughts or impulses, but you can choose not to dwell on them or act on them
Here’s a breakdown of the meaning:
Birds flying over your head:
Represents random feelings, thoughts, ideas, or impulses that come into your mind.
Building a nest in your hair:
Represents dwelling on those thoughts, allowing them to take root and become a problem.
The message:
You can’t prevent thoughts/feelings from arising, but you have the power to choose which ones to focus on and act upon.
Examples:
You can’t stop worrying thoughts from popping into your head, but you can choose not to dwell on them and instead focus on problem-solving.
This has been a game changer for me I literally cried not tears of sadness, but tears of absolute release. My soul, heart and body had held onto so much tension, self-doubt and fear it was impossible to keep the intrusive thoughts from staying until that moment. I was reminded that those thoughts,, fears, self-doubt can come but they do not have to stay, they can float away to leave room for the things that matter.
So this is a reminder we have the power to control the thoughts, feelings, and things that matter, and a reminder the shadow self is not a enemy but it’s meant to be integrated to make us stronger, resilient and powerful in ourselves.
So when you have days or times and are dealing with this get out a journal and read the wisdom that was passed to me, and ask yourself:

What thoughts, feelings, impulses are trying to or have made a nest in my hair that I need to let go of?

See what comes through and always love yourself and give yourself grace as the healing process is shedding what no longer needs us to hold onto.
